Somjit Barat, associate professor of marketing at Penn State Mont Alto, has recently been named coordinator of International and Intercultural Programs. In his new role, Barat will head Mont Alto’s newly established International and Intercultural Programs Office (IIPO) and lead the campus in the development and coordination of multicultural events.
Penn State World Campus student Tyler Knabb of Reading will embark on a cycling journey Oct. 22 to raise funds for the 2014 Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon. His 920-mile, eight-day cycling trip is in memory of his mother and friend who lost their battles with cancer.
CSI notwithstanding, forensics experts cannot always retrieve fingerprints from objects, but a conformal coating process developed by Penn State professors can reveal hard-to-develop fingerprints on nonporous surfaces without altering the chemistry of the print. "As prints dry or age, the common techniques used to develop latent fingerprints, such as dusting or cyanoacrylate -- SuperGlue -- fuming often fail," said Robert Shaler, professor of biochemistry and molecular biology and director of Penn State's forensic sciences program.
WPSU, Penn State's public broadcasting station, announced Monday (Sept. 28) that it has earned two 2009 Mid-Atlantic Emmy awards from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for shows "Making the Blue Band" and "Cook Like a Chef." These regional awards recognize local productions for excellence in television programming.
